HSBC receives internet banking awards

International banking behemoth HSBC has been recognized for its leading services in internet banking by Global Finance magazine.
HSBC won the award for the best integrated corporate bank site in Asia for the third time in the last five years, as well as the best corporate/institutional internet bank in China, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. The bank also picked up an award for the best online cash management site in Asia.
Margaret Leung, group general manager and global co-head of commercial banking, said: "We are thrilled to receive these awards, which are recognition of our ongoing efforts to be the most preferred bank in the region. The development of our internet capabilities is a top priority and we continue to invest heavily in the development of innovative solutions to ensure HSBC remains a leader in providing convenience, choice, ease of use and security for our online customers."
Winning banks were selected based on criteria such as strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from internet initiatives, and website design and functionality.
Joseph Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance, said: "In less than a decade, the internet has transformed the way many consumers and most business bank. The continuing improvements in internet offerings represented by this year's entries show that more significant internet banking developments are still ahead of us."
