By Staff Writer

Clydesdale Bank has become the latest UK bank to offer prepaid MasterCard debit cards aimed at people without bank accounts through its joint venture with PrePay Technologies.

The bank has already launched the Western Union Travel Cash Card, a reloadable PIN protected cash card available in euros, US dollars and sterling as an alternative to travelers cheques. The bank intends to create a range of cards targeted at the large unbanked market.

Philippe Dufour, CEO of PrePay Technologies, said, "We have been working with Clydesdale Bank for more than a year to create a number of exciting prepaid card products for the UK and European markets. Prepaid is coming into Europe fast and I am delighted that Clydesdale Bank recognized PrePay Technologies' expertise and knowledge in the field."
